About us

We have performed at European Roman Festivals since 1988 – the most important of which are the ones held in Aalen, Carnuntum, Rome. In addition to the German speaking territories, we also appear in cities of Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Denmark.

We have been members of the Friends of Aquincum Society established by the Museum of Aquincum since 1989 – and as such we enjoy the professional support of the Museum staff as well. Our special acknowledgement goes to Katalin Lengyelné Kurucz whose critical approach means a lot to us. We have been a standard participant of the Floralia Feasts organized each spring in the Garden of Ruins, where beside gladiator games we also perform sacrificial rites, battles, a humorous Roman wedding and curing.

As of 1995 we have regularly attended the Floralia Feasts organized in the Gorsium Archeological Park. The archeologists and other staff of Gorsium also provide professional guidance to us. Éva Petres, Zsuzsa Bánki and Gabriella Nádorfi have supplied heaps of useful information about the place and about the habits of the Romanized Celtic people – expanding thereby the information basis used for our subsequent performances. We also receive advice and assistance from Dr. László Kocsis and Ádám Szabó, archeologists of the Archeology Department – Roman Collection at the Hungarian National Museum – they provide information related to arms and religious history. In matters of religious history we have also been helped by Levente László philologist since 2003. He sheds light on the relationship between ceremonies and their hidden meanings. Our advisor is an expert on Mithraic mysteries.

Dr. Marcus Junkelmann has also contributed significantly to raising the professional standard of our Familia – the information supplied by him has been of great assistance to our group since 2002. In consequence our gear and garments are made in forms and with ornaments which follow the most recent data of archeological, historical research. We are grateful to actors Sándor Halmágyi, János Papp and András Sinkovics Vitai for advising and mentoring us in our acting.
