Reconstruction and experimental use of weapons and garments.

Our aim is to reconstruct within the shortest possible time the latest findings of archeological and historical research. The helmet is the most difficult part of our armor to make. Our helmets have been made by István Heincz armor smith since 1999. Our shields, other armor pieces, chain mail, sandals, garments are made by János Weixelbaum. The thorough testing of the reconstructed weapons guides us in their possible ways of use. The theories will either perish or crystallize into viable fighting techniques in the purifying fire of practice.  Employing the gear of the scissor and cruppellarius gladiator classes was a particularly challenging task in the past three years.  We shall continue to research the fighting methods of the andabates and laquearius classes in the forthcoming years. The veterans of Familia, Anthrax (Zsolt Pintér) and Memnon (Zsolt Szilágyi) were foremost in testing, developing the various techniques of armed fights.  Lately we have made gladiator helmets of bronze and gladiator shields of a wood frame. Armorers: István Hencz and József Fazekas.  Since 2003 the helmets and every other equipments has been made by Janos Weixelbaum.
